Gina Knight Explains Cha Cha Cha For Drum Set

Here’s an excellent video by Chicago area drummer Gina Knight explaining Cha Cha Cha for Drum set.

(By the way, the best time to learn to play the Cha Cha Cha on Drum set or any other new genre or rhythm is before you actually need it! When someone asks you to play it on a gig or in the studio, it’s too late.)

The first video I watched by Gina Knight was on the Samba. Honestly, after watching the video, I thought she must be from Brazil, or some other country in South America or the Caribbean, or at least from Miami, FL. She really seems to understand the essence of latin music, and I wouldn’t be surprised if she knows how to Salsa dance.

In this Cha Cha Cha video, she demonstrates rhythms on the original percussion instruments that the drum set rhythms came from.

Gina Knight has been a busy gigging drummer in and around the Chicago area for over 10 years.

She currently drums for Chicago’s own “Blooze Brothers” a favored horn band which has headlined many of the major music venues and festivals in the Midwest for the last 25 years. She also freelances with other area bands and entertainers, including orchestras, dance bands, rock bands, and jazz groups.

She’s also an excellent singer. Here’s a video featuring Gina singing, “What Are You doing New Year’s Eve?” https://youtu.be/hnArPzsKd44

She recently completed an original rock album with Karl Green (the original bass player for Herman’s Hermits). The Album is comprised of Karl Green’s original edgy tunes and features Gina on Drum Set on all tracks, and lead vocals on one track. “The Long Road Back” Album was released March 1st 2016 through Global Recording Artists, and is available on Amazon and iTunes.
