Advanced Rock Fills – Killer 16th Note Triplets

Here’s a video lesson I created on 16th note triplets. This is a triplet pattern broken up between the hands and bass drum. It really sounds fantastic after you work it up to speed. Patterns like this were one of the reasons I never felt a need to play a lot of double bass. You can basically get a lot of the same sound as a double bass by combining patterns between the toms and the bass drum. For me personally, a lot of this type of playing was inspired by John Bonham of Led Zeppelin, as well as friends of mine I played with in my high school stage band, and army band.
